This song was written during the transition from summer to fall, 2021. It’s a time when one thinks about what’s to come. It’s also a time to think about what has been.
During the summer, I attended an event which intersected art and politics. This was an event that featured “independent” comedians, artists and journalists. Independent meaning, independent of scripted corporate press release statements. The kind of statements that paint an Orwellian nightmare. So the event was comforting. You get to meet lots people who aren’t afraid to question, who still value critical thinking.
Leaving the event, I wondered how many others are willing to think critically? It’s unconformable to make a stand by yourself, but I’ll do it. I started walking.
This song’s lyrics reflect on that experience.
